New Delhi. A Delhi court has granted bail to the accused of molesting Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) chairperson Swati Maliwal and dragging her on the road. The court said that at present, it would be unfair to hear the accused ahead of time.
Maliwal had on Thursday alleged that the accused molested her in the night and dragged her for 10-15 meters in his car outside AIIMS. His hand was stuck in the car window. The accused was intoxicated at the time of the incident. The accused was identified as Harishchandra (47). On Maliwal’s complaint, the Kotla Mubarakpur police registered a case and arrested Harishchandra.

Got bail on a bond of Rs 50,000On Saturday, Metropolitan Magistrate Sanghamitra said, “I am of the view that no useful purpose will be served by keeping the accused behind bars. Accused Harishchandra is granted bail on a bond of Rs 50,000.” The court said that other conditions of bail include not committing the same offence, not tampering with the evidence, joining the investigation when required, giving your address and phone number, direct or indirect communication from the complainant, his family members and other witnesses. This includes not contacting and not making threats.

Swati Maliwal went out to check the safety of womenSignificantly, Swati Maliwal, Chairperson of the Delhi Commission for Women, had gone out to do a reality check regarding the safety of women in Delhi. She was on the footpath near AIIMS at around 3.11 am on Wednesday. Meanwhile, a person named Harishchandra came in the Baleno car. He was quite drunk. He started dragging Swati Maliwal into the car. To catch that person, as soon as Swati put her hand inside the window of the car, she raised the glass. Due to which his hand got stuck. After this he dragged Swati for about 15 meters. Meanwhile, the team of the chairman of the Women’s Commission standing far away and the police ran. The team rescued them and arrested the accused.
